Konya

We will get by plane mainly to Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir and several large cities to the east. The airport lies far north outside the city limits, on the road to Ankara. The sale of tickets is carried out by the THY office, Mevlana Cad. 9, tel.: (332) 352 46 76, fax: (322) 350 2171. There are minibuses operated by THY and dolmus departing from Alaettin Buk to the airport (on the eastern side of the hill) or from a stop near the Karatay Museum.

The bus terminal is one of the most modern in Turkey, and you can get there from almost anywhere within the borders of Turkey. (The most important connections are listed in the table on the next page). Tickets are sold by the Metro and Kontur office (cheap rides to Aksaray) at Mevlana Cad. (next to the Sifa Hotel) and numerous branches – kiosk przy Alaettin Bulv. on the west side of the hill. Unfortunately, we will not get to the station with the free dolmus placed in front of the company (will be), because this option was not foreseen by the carriers in Konya. You can get there by dolmusz (0,35 USD) from the stop on the corner of Aziziye Cad. i Ayanbey Sok. or from the Jerafettin mosque. Tram ride (0,3 USD) will take a little longer (stop on the eastern side of Alaettin Hill).

There aren't many trains departing from here, but if we decide to go to Istanbul or to the south, do Ada -ny, that's gonna save a lot of lira, choosing the train instead of the bus. Of course, the journey will take much longer. The two most important Istanbul trains pass through Konya- Adana, Istanbul – Gaziantep and vice versa. These are: lcanadolu Mavi i Toros Ex. A separate train from Konya to Istanbul is the Meram Ex. The journey to Istanbul continues 13 time., a bilet (second class) it costs 6 USD.

Accommodation

Konya is a big city, that's why we will find a lot of hotels of all price categories here – most east of Alaeddin's Height, in the alleys around Alaettin Cad. i Mevlana Cad.

Gastronomy

As with hotels, There are plenty of restaurants or cheaper venues in Konya, the latter located in the district northeast of the Serafettin mosque, slightly better premises are occupied by Mevlana Cad. and surroundings. Also Alaettin Bulv. is dominated by nice eateries. The delicacy in Konya is Firin kebap, which differs from the usual only in this, that it is made of fatter lamb.

Bathhouses

One of the bathhouses worth visiting, unfortunately focused too much on tourists, there is Mahkeme Hamami in front of the Serafettin Mosque. A bath costs money here 2.5 USD, washing -1,4 USD, massage too 1,4 USD. For a special tourist bath (whatever that meant) we will pay 7 USD. Another bathhouse, located a bit more off the beaten track, where tourists do not come, there is Sifa Sultan Hamami next to the Sahip Ata Mosque Complex, at Sahip Ata Cad. (the bathhouse itself stands at Sircali Medrese Cad ). The prices are the same, what in the Mahkeme bathhouse. Separate entrances for both sexes.

Informant

The tourist information office is located in a building on Mevlana Cad. 65, opposite the garden adjacent to Selimiye Camii and Mevlana Miizesi. We will get here a not very successful map of Konya and a brochure with limited information about attractions in the city and the entire region. The office is open every day (except Sundays) in hours. 8.30 -17.00.
